Facebook Ad Strategy

If you have been wanting to run Facebook ads but are not sure what is the best approach then this blog post is for you. It is important that you have a Facebook ad strategy. Many times, we hear that people have placed ads and even boosted a post only to get less than desirable results. We then find out that they never set any demographics and interests. They often chose the wrong type of ad for their objective. So here are some of the basics to get you started.
There are a variety of ad types you can do on Facebook depending on the objective of your ad. Many just getting started with ads tend to try “boosting” a post or use promote page option they find on their business page. These are not the most effective options for you. A “boost” is designed to get increase the reach of your post and measures engagement. While there maybe times you want to do this, there are much more effective ways to use Facebook ads that will yield much better results.

Facebook Ad Strategy – Objectives

So first determine your objective. You may want to offer a discount, something for free, get email sign ups, get an ebook. It must be something of value. Remember you are doing this to get new customers so it has be to be something they would see the value in. Another objective to consider is to grow your page. Depending on your business/industry, there are people who want to know the information you are sharing. Video views is another objective. It is advised to create the video knowing you will be using it for an ad. If you have an event that you want more attendees at there is an option for that too.

Facebook Ad Strategy – Target Market

Once you have determined your objective you then need to determine your target market. What demographics, location, age, gender etc. You also need to consider income, interests and behaviors. People who use your product or service have related interests. As an example, if you are offering a sale on your skin care products then you would want that ad to show to people who are not only interested in skin care but also cosmetics, perhaps anti-aging or acne depending on your product. You would choose gender and age based on who uses your product the most. You can also add an income level, online buying and even your competition.

Facebook Ad Strategy – Budget

Based on your objectives/goals you will need to determine your budget for the ad and how long you are going to run it. Facebook allows you to run an ad for as little as $1 a day but we recommend no less than $5 a day if you want to get any type of effective results.

The picture you use can only contain 20{ebd406824beddcfba747a64d6ebf5cd9712607f65350c4e6a9643ae9d21e61f8} text, this includes video thumbnails. However, text on the product itself do not count. Make sure your visual is relatable to your target audience. The text you use should also have a call to action and be relatable to your audience.

You should monitor the performance of your ad and adjust accordingly. If you are just getting started with ads run it for 5-7 days to see how it performs. If you are not getting the results you desire then adjust the text, visual and even the audience you are using.

Facebook ads are a powerful tool and very effective in meeting your business goals and objectives if you have a Facebook ad strategy. Every business wants and needs new customers and ads are a wonderful way of building your community. Not every business can afford print, TV or even radio but you can afford to use Facebook ads.
